Car Talk - Gen Y 101

  • Me: ... So Gen Y kids are like 'authenticity police.' They know they are being marketed at all the time and can sniff out anything ingenuous or fake.
  • Neil: Wow, to work in marketing do you really have to believe all that crap?
  • Me: Like what?
  • Neil: Like "Gen Y" being any kind of useful description of how people act.
  • Me: Explain what you mean.
  • Neil: Well Gen Y just seems like a term made up by marketing people to target generalized ideas at a generalized audience.
  • Me: That's a very Gen Y way to look at it.
