• No matter how much these girls “aren’t here to make friends,” sometimes Top Model can be a surprising reminder of empathy. When these young contestants who fight and compete and spat see their top competition having a panic attack and crying when asked to pose on a tiny rung outside a windy space needle tower in China, all their lips tremble. It’s like they’re little girls in that moment, feeling scared because their friend is too.

• Tyra is really creating scary challenges lately! She has so much secret aggression toward younger, beautiful women. Tyra, you are beautiful forever.

• This was the first season I can recall when the right person won. I genuinely believe that Kelly Cutrone heard about their top secret process of picking the weirdo, second choice (because, I presume, the other girl doesn’t need the show in the same way) she slapped them all with slap bracelets and gave them a time out. Top Model needs to produce an actual top model at some point, and Sophie could be it. Kelly always did a creepy hand tremble when she looked at her, which I later learned meant “illuminata,” Sophie’s nickname, given by Tyra. She lit up a room, and Kelly’ heart.
