I’m in the Journalism school’s equivalent of a graphic design class. It’s totally titties. For the poster assignment, I made a fake poster for last year’s Rock the Garden. I figured it was cooler than making up my dream concert, which would consist of Animal Collective, Dan Deacon and somehow Christopher Walken. We have to show our work in critiques, and I don’t want any hidden hipsters in my class thinking I’m pretentious for liking Baltimore Wham-City related music above all. But I do, so there.
I made two posters, because, how often are you motivated to make posters? This one I made for the section of the paper I edit, The Minnesota Daily’s A&E. It got kind of lazy, but at least it’s colorful.
I chose pink because the last graphics editor branded us as pink. Not trying to make any psychosexual associations or nullify any preexisting ones or anything like that. And the whole compass thing, while a bit cheesy, is to go with our Weekend Culture Compass.
